Request to Refrain from Outdoor Activities During Hot Daytime Hours
Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 7th that County Governor Gu In-mo visited heatwave shelters in the area to inspect the heatwave response situation and the operation sites.
This inspection involved checking the operation status of air conditioners and other cooling devices within the heatwave shelters, as well as usage conditions. The governor also listened to residents' difficulties and focused on addressing any inconveniences.
Governor Gu In-mo is conducting an on-site inspection of the heat relief shelter in Yongsan Village, Gabuk-myeon.
Governor Gu said, "With the continuous hot heatwave every day, we are concerned about the health of our residents, so we ask that you refrain from outdoor activities during the hot daytime hours." He added, "The county will prepare various heatwave response and prevention measures to protect the health of our residents."
Meanwhile, Geochang-gun is currently operating 314 heatwave shelters and conducting home visits and welfare checks two to three times a week for about 1,800 elderly living alone. Additionally, the county is actively implementing measures to protect vulnerable groups against heatwaves, such as providing additional cooling expenses to 438 senior centers.
