Diaper and Plastic Waste Mess... "How Much Should Customers Understand?" Plea from a Chicken Restaurant Owner

The owner of a chicken restaurant complained that after about 10 customers left, the place was left full of trash such as diapers.

On the 5th, a photo showing a store seat filled with trash including convenience store food and diapers was posted on a self-employed online community with the title "It has become a natural thing."

The writer, Mr. A, revealed that he "runs a chicken restaurant mainly focused on dine-in" and shared his experience, saying, "I don't know how far I should understand this rather than being angry."

According to Mr. A, about 10 people including children and adults visited his store the day before, and he arranged two tables together to accommodate them. When the customers requested an outdoor table so the children could play, he also fulfilled this request.

Mr. A said, "There was even a baby under one year old in a stroller crying, and the mothers were drinking alcohol and couldn't properly take care of the children, which made other customers uncomfortable," adding, "Even so, I asked for understanding and apologized instead."

He continued, "When the customers at the table next to them left, they seated the children there, so I couldn't accommodate two new groups of customers and had to turn them away," and "Moreover, even though outside food is prohibited, the trash from food bought at the convenience store next door was all over the place. There were even diapers," he lamented.

The photo he shared shows a black bag on a chair filled with various plastic trash. Not only that, but trash was scattered all over the floor, tables, and chairs.

These customers came at 7 p.m. and ate until midnight. Mr. A said, "They spent about 140,000 won, and although they were drunk, they paid properly, so I was patting myself on the back for being kind. But the next day, I was surprised to get a call saying it seemed like the price of two bottles of soju was added," expressing his frustration, "In five years of business, no one has ever said the bill was wrong."

He added, "I endure it because it's a neighborhood business, but I'm curious if people leave trash like this these days or if it's just my store."

Other self-employed people commented, saying, "This behavior is beyond common sense," "They are really troublesome customers; if you keep remembering them, you'll only get stressed, so forget about it," and "People have no conscience."

Meanwhile, self-employed people lamented that complaints related to so-called troublesome customers are increasing.

On the 25th of last month, a self-employed person shared a CCTV photo showing several children lying down in the restaurant they operate. Around the dining table piled with plates and glasses, several children were covering themselves with cushions provided inside the restaurant or stepping barefoot on chairs.

The author of the post explained, "The parents were drinking alcohol nearby, and when asked if the children could lie down, the parents said yes."

Another self-employed person running a cafe in the same month complained, "Three customers ordered one 3,000 won coffee and stayed for three hours," adding, "It says outside food is prohibited, but there was trash on the chairs and floor, so maybe they secretly ate bread."
