Captured Korean Style in Foldable Phones... Samsung Electronics' K-Culture Marketing

Samsung Electronics announced on the 6th that it will conduct various content marketing activities both online and offline to convey the appeal of foldable smartphones and Korea to consumers ahead of the official launch of the 'Galaxy Z Flip5·Fold5.'


To commemorate the first-ever 'Unpacked' event held in Korea for the Galaxy series, Samsung Electronics unveiled 3D creative content at the K-pop Square in COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, combining Korean culture with the innovation of foldable technology.

The video, inspired by Shin Saimdang's 'Chochungdo (草蟲圖),' features a cat in a folding screen that, when touched on the 'Galaxy Z Flip5,' creates a 3D effect as if the actual product pops out, immersively expressing the innovation of the foldable smartphone.


A Samsung Electronics representative said, "We aimed to harmoniously blend Korea's 'folding screen' and the 'foldable smartphone' to express Korea's 'style' and 'beauty (美)."


The 3D outdoor advertisement at COEX will be displayed until the 30th of next month.


Samsung Electronics released digital short-form videos combining the usability of foldable products with K-Culture. These videos express the confident spirit of the 20s and 30s generation by integrating everyday usage tips of the 'Galaxy Z Flip5·Fold5' with Korean culture.


A total of six short-form videos introduce the latest Korean trends such as hanok, selfies, and popular restaurants, alongside innovative features of the Galaxy foldable smartphones like 'FlexCam' and the 'S Pen.' Samsung Electronics plans to sequentially release various additional content containing tips for using foldable smartphones.


Events are being held to allow more consumers to experience the 'Galaxy Z Flip5·Fold5' in special spaces.


In collaboration with LG Uplus, Samsung Electronics offers ice cream coupons for the cafe 'Bad Habit,' located in LG Uplus's complex cultural space 'Ilsang Bi Ilsang-ui Teum,' to customers visiting 'Samsung Gangnam.' LG Uplus, in turn, provides coffee coupons for 'Center Coffee,' located on the 3rd floor of 'Samsung Gangnam,' to customers experiencing the 'Galaxy Z Flip5·Fold5' at 'Ilsang Bi Ilsang-ui Teum.' Ice cream coupons are available to the first 1,000 customers, and coffee coupons to the first 2,000 customers on a first-come, first-served basis.


Additionally, customers visiting Samsung Gangnam and 'Ilsang Bi Ilsang-ui Teum' can see LG Uplus's limited edition 'Galaxy Z Flip5 Garbage Time Edition.'


A Samsung Electronics representative said, "We are conducting special marketing to share the new value of the Galaxy Z Flip5·Fold5 with more customers," adding, "We plan to prepare various additional content to ensure that the pride of K-Culture and the innovation of foldable technology are conveyed to consumers."
