Gangdong-gu Residents Directly Decide Participatory Budget Projects through Mobile Voting
Mobile voting for participatory budget proposal projects conducted until the 15th... A total of 37 projects targeted
Anyone interested in district administration can participate... Final selection based on 50% mobile + 50% offline votes
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Soo-hee) is conducting mobile voting until the 15th to select participatory budget projects worth 3 billion KRW for next year.
The participatory budget is a program that provides residents with the opportunity to directly participate in the budget allocation process and decide the budget themselves.
Since February, the district received a total of 239 resident-proposed projects through a public contest, and in July, after review meetings by the Participatory Budget Committee’s research and regional subcommittees, 37 projects were selected as candidates for mobile voting.
The selected projects mainly include local issues such as the ‘Myeongil-dong Academy Street Healing Shelter Project,’ ‘Cheonho Bicycle Festival,’ ‘Installation of Heating Cables in Snow Removal Vulnerable Areas,’ and ‘Replacement of Old Sidewalk Blocks at Seongnae Elementary School.’
The final selection will be determined by combining the results of this mobile voting and the voting results from the ‘Participatory Budget Committee General Assembly’ scheduled for the 18th, based on priority.
Kim Jeom-hee, Director of the Planning and Budget Division, said, “The participatory budget system is designed to efficiently allocate the budget from the residents’ perspective to improve their quality of life,” adding, “We hope many residents will take interest and participate in the mobile voting, and kindly ask for your valuable vote to promote the policies you wish.”
The mobile voting, conducted until August 15 on the Seoul M-Voting website or M-Voting app, is open to anyone interested in Gangdong district administration after a simple identity verification process.
