KOSDAQ Rises Then Turns Downward
The KOSPI and KOSDAQ started higher but turned to a downward trend. As both foreigners and institutions switched to a 'selling' stance, the index is barely holding the 2600 level.
As of 9:30 a.m. on the 4th, the KOSPI is trading at 2604.05, down 0.05% (1.34 points) from the previous day. The KOSPI initially rose 0.03% to 2606.17 but soon turned downward.
Foreigners and institutions are net sellers, offloading 88.3 billion KRW and 128.9 billion KRW respectively, pulling the index down. The index briefly rebounded around the 2605 level but then declined again. Individual investors are the sole net buyers, purchasing 222.9 billion KRW. In the futures market, foreigners alone are selling futures worth 179.6 billion KRW, while individuals and institutions are buying 73.2 billion KRW and 109.8 billion KRW respectively.
Among the top 10 stocks by market capitalization, only NAVER +1.12%, Hyundai Motor +0.42%, and Kia +0.12% are rising. POSCO Future M is the biggest loser, down 1.13% to 483,000 KRW.
As of 9:40 a.m., the KOSDAQ is up 0.03% (0.31 points) at 920.68 compared to the previous day. After opening 0.28% higher at 922.89, it briefly declined but then resumed its upward trend. Like the KOSPI, individual investors are the sole net buyers with 153.8 billion KRW. Foreigners and institutions are net sellers of 107.9 billion KRW and 44.8 billion KRW respectively.
The top 10 stocks by market capitalization show mixed trends. L&F is down 4.71%, POSCO DX down 3.24%, HLB down 2.04%, and EcoPro BM down 1.28%. On the other hand, SM is up 4.15%, JYP Entertainment up 3.06%, and Pearl Abyss up 0.56%.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won-dollar exchange rate started at 1,297.5 KRW, down 1.6 KRW from the previous trading day (1,299.1 KRW).
