'Biodegradable Certification Audit' Now Available
CJ CheilJedang announced on the 4th that CJ Blossom Park, its research and development (R&D) hub, has obtained the qualification of 'Designated Biodegradability Testing Laboratory (A.C.T Lab)' from the global testing and certification organization T?V S?D.
Lee Seung-jin, CJ CheilJedang Management Leader (right), and Seo Jung-wook, CEO of TV Shude Korea, are posing for a commemorative photo at the certificate awarding ceremony for acquiring the qualification of the 'Biodegradability Designated Testing Laboratory (A.C.T Lab).'
T?V S?D is a German testing and certification organization that provides testing, inspection, and certification services across various industries such as electrical and electronics, automotive, chemical, and medical devices. It is internationally recognized for its credibility and grants designated testing laboratory status by rigorously evaluating analytical capabilities according to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) laboratory operation assessment criteria.
With this qualification, biodegradability tests conducted at CJ Blossom Park can be officially used in T?V S?D’s 'Industrial Composting' certification review. This reduces the time and cost by about half compared to previously obtaining data from external accredited institutions. The company expects that this certification will make it easier to secure T?V certification data for various products applying bio-based materials such as PHA from CJ CheilJedang.
CJ CheilJedang plans to actively support biodegradability testing for products with high demand for T?V biodegradability certification, such as cosmetic containers and food packaging materials. Additionally, the company intends to expand the testing scope to include 'Home Composting' in the future.
A CJ CheilJedang representative said, “With this 'Designated Testing Laboratory' approval, CJ CheilJedang’s global-level R&D facilities and analytical capabilities have been recognized. We will actively support customers in obtaining biodegradability certification to ensure that bio-based materials, including PHA, can be utilized across various fields.”
