On the 2nd, a video was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Jamboree Jamie' featuring Jamie, a participant from Wales, UK, entering the Saemangeum Jamboree venue.
In the video, Jamie boards a bus to Saemangeum along with other participants. They eat snacks on the bus and enjoy the Korean scenery. After arriving at the Saemangeum venue, they marched while singing loudly, draped in national flags. All were dressed in scout uniforms, and most wore sunglasses and hats to block the sunlight.
After the opening ceremony, Jamie walked to his camp and showed the inside of the shower facility. The eight shower stalls were only lightly separated by cloth, and there were water stains on the floor that looked like muddy water.
Also, in the changing area inside the shower facility, there was a shelf for storing personal belongings, but the pillar was bent and collapsed. Jamie complained, "I didn't put many things on it, but the shelf just fell over." Before going to bed, he said, "Today's opening ceremony was not very good," and ended the video with the words, "It's too hard."
The video posted by Jamie received comments presumed to be written by Koreans. Netizens left remarks such as, "As a Korean, I am very sorry," "Korea is very hot right now. You must have come to make memories, but I am very upset and sorry as a Korean about the poor conditions. I hope you stay healthy and enjoy yourselves without getting sick," and "Stay strong, guys. We are sorry."
Meanwhile, the World Scout Jamboree is the largest international scout event hosted by the World Organization of the Scout Movement. The 25th World Scout Jamboree has been held since the 1st in the Saemangeum area of Buan-gun, Jeonbuk Province. This event has attracted about 43,000 participants from 158 countries. However, due to the ongoing heatwave, more than 400 cases of heat-related illnesses have occurred, causing widespread damage.
