Ulsan City Begins Full-Scale Preparations for the 'Northeast Asia Local Governments Alliance General Assembly'

‘Kick-off Meeting for Event Agency Service’ Held

Ulsan City has begun preparations for the ‘Northeast Asian Local Governments Alliance General Assembly.’

On the 4th at 2 PM, Ulsan City will hold a ‘Project Commencement Report Meeting for Event Agency Services’ in the Situation Room on the 7th floor of the City Hall main building, chaired by Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyo-dae, to ensure the successful hosting of the ‘14th Northeast Asian Regional Local Governments Alliance (NEAR) General Assembly.’

The report meeting will include a commencement report on the agency services by Bom Communications, collection of opinions, and discussions.

The 14th General Assembly will be held both online and offline from October 24 to 26 at the Ulsan Exhibition & Convention Center (UECO), with about 150 participants from 79 organizations across 6 countries.

The event will include an opening ceremony, reports on key activities from the secretariat and member organizations, the proclamation of the Ulsan Declaration, a ride on Taehwa Lake, and on-site inspections (Hyundai Motor Company, Taehwa River National Garden), among other activities.

Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs Ahn Hyo-dae said, “Based on the successful experience of last year’s 13th Working Committee meeting, we will do our best to prepare so that this General Assembly becomes an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and friendship among member organizations.”

NEAR was established in September 1996 with the participation of 29 organizations from 4 countries to promote exchange, cooperation, and joint development among local governments in Northeast Asia.

Currently, a total of 79 organizations from 6 countries, including Korea (16 organizations), China (12 organizations), and Japan (11 organizations), are members. Meetings are held as General Assemblies (every 2 years), Working Committees (every 2 years), and Subcommittees (irregularly).

The 14th General Assembly is hosted by Ulsan City as the chair organization of the Northeast Asian Regional Local Governments Alliance.
