"Asiana Airlines Strengthens Cabin Crew Security Training 'Learned from Experts'"

Training Conducted Including Subduing Disorderly Passengers

Asiana Airlines is fully strengthening flight attendant security training to respond to the increase in illegal activities on board that have risen along with the expansion of flight operations.

On the 1st, the company conducted security training including special martial arts, subduing unruly passengers, use of electronic stun guns, and shooting practice for security instructors who educate flight attendants, by inviting security experts at the Asiana Airlines Training Center in Gangseo, Seoul.

This security instructor training was directly led by counterterrorism personnel from the Special Warfare Command, who provided theoretical explanations, shared know-how, and offered one-on-one coaching. With Asiana Airlines introducing electronic stun guns capable of rapid fire, security experts from the manufacturer provided training on their use and shooting practice.

Flight attendants, who serve as onboard security personnel, promptly subdue and detain passengers who threaten onboard safety with acts such as assault, attempts to enter the cockpit, or tampering with equipment.

The company conducts security and safety training every year for all flight attendants to prepare for all emergency situations, including subduing unruly passengers, emergency evacuation, first aid, and fire suppression.

An Asiana Airlines official stated, “We will always strive to strengthen the security capabilities of flight attendants, who serve as onboard security personnel, so that passengers can board with peace of mind.”
