Basic Health Checkups, Medical Consultations, Medication Guidance, and Dementia Screening... Elderly Yakson's Role Shines Brightly
On the 1st, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it is accelerating the realization of rural welfare, a key pledge of the 8th local government, by operating a visiting "Resident Health Keeper" program to promote the health of its residents.
To this end, the county operates visiting health keepers composed of public health doctors and health center staff in charge, targeting 318 local senior citizen centers, providing resident-centered healthcare services.
The health keepers conduct basic health checks such as blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol, along with professional medical consultations and medication guidance from public health doctors regarding the drugs currently being taken.
They also play a vital role in caring for the elderly by providing CPR training, oral health care, prevention and management of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, early dementia screening and prevention projects, and counseling for elderly depression.
County Governor Lee Byeong-no said, “We will continue to discover additional target villages and operate new health programs that meet residents' needs to realize the 'rural welfare' pledge, enabling the elderly to live their remaining years healthily in their hometown.”
