On the 1st, SPC Group announced that it will actively purchase agricultural products from flood-affected areas. The company explained that this initiative was launched following Chairman Huh's suggestion to explore ways for farmers struggling due to recent heavy rain damage to quickly return to their daily lives.

Accordingly, SPC Group decided to purchase local representative agricultural products, including Eumseong peaches and Goesan glutinous corn, in consultation with Chungcheongbuk-do, which was severely affected by the heavy rains. Starting with an immediate purchase of 3 tons of Eumseong peaches, continuous additional purchases are planned.

The Chungcheong region suffered significant damage, with approximately 3,149 hectares (about 31.49 million square meters) of farmland affected by continuous heavy rains last month. Among these, Goesan in Chungbuk was declared a special disaster area on the 19th of last month.

SPC Group plans to first launch the 'Good Bakery' series using agricultural products purchased from Chungbuk through Paris Baguette. Starting from the 4th, they will release the 'Eumseong Peach Tart,' which allows consumers to enjoy the sweet taste and rich juice of Eumseong peaches, and soon after, products like 'Goesan Glutinous Corn Bread,' featuring the chewy texture and savory flavor of Goesan glutinous corn, will be introduced. Subsequently, SPC GFS, SPC SAMLIP’s food ingredient distribution and logistics subsidiary, will sequentially purchase agricultural products from flood-affected areas.

Chairman Huh has shown exceptional interest not only in helping regions affected by natural disasters but also in coexisting with domestic farmers. Earlier, on the 17th of last month, SPC Group delivered a total of 10,000 emergency relief items, including bread and bottled water from SPC SAMLIP, through the Korean Red Cross to assist areas affected by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains. Earlier this year, they provided relief supplies to Seo-gu, Daejeon, which suffered from large wildfires, and to Guryong Village in Gaepo-dong, where a fire occurred, supplying a total of 800,000 pieces of bread and bottled water to date. Additionally, since 2020, the 'Happy Coexistence Project' has been ongoing for four years, purchasing agricultural products from domestic farmers facing difficulties in finding markets and from young farmers leading future agriculture, and releasing products made from these ingredients.

An SPC Group official stated, "Through purchasing agricultural products from flood-affected areas, we aim to help struggling local farmers while encouraging consumers to make good purchases and expand positive influence. We plan to continue various activities that promote coexistence with our local farmers."
