Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, wrote on his Facebook on the 30th, "Even if everyone joins forces, is it okay to push me out in such a difficult situation and still expect to win the general election?"
He added, "It's not the first time I've been targeted by a pack of hyenas, but this too is just a passing breeze," while also expressing regret, saying, "I am disappointed to have been treated like a petty criminal."
He continued, "Hwang Kyo-ahn failed because he played cowardly politics," and harshly criticized, "I endured until the general election, but let Lee Jun-seok and Yoo Seung-min carry on together."
Earlier, Mayor Hong was embroiled in a controversy over 'flood golf' and received a severe disciplinary action of a 10-month suspension of party membership rights from the People Power Party's Central Ethics Committee.
