"Where Is That Rotten Invoice Smell Coming From..." 50 Shih Tzus Found After Door Forced Open Following Report

50 Dogs Left in a Small Room in Pohang City
No Management at All... 2 Dogs Dead

Dozens of Shih Tzus left unattended were found in a multi-family house in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. Among them, some dogs were deceased.

According to a JTBC report on the 26th, 50 neglected Shih Tzus were discovered recently inside a 20-pyeong villa in Donghae-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang.

These animals were found after villa residents reported to the police that there was a "rotting corpse smell." Upon receiving the report, 119 emergency responders opened the door and entered the house, where they found 50 neglected pet dogs.

According to residents, a tenant in their 40s moved in about three years ago and kept pet dogs, after which an unbearable foul odor began to emanate.

The police believe these dogs were used for breeding and plan to investigate the tenant in their 40s on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act.

Meanwhile, the hygiene and health conditions of the neglected Shih Tzus were reported to be poor. At the time of discovery, the Shih Tzus were confined in a small room and had matted fur due to long-term neglect.

Two of the 50 dogs were already deceased. The deceased Shih Tzus were sent to the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency for autopsy.

It is presumed that the number of dogs increased rapidly because the owner, who kept two females and two males, did not perform neutering surgery.

An animal protection organization rescued these Shih Tzus, and after grooming and treatment, they are now preparing to be adopted by new families. Photos of the Shih Tzus have also been posted on the abandoned animal adoption platform "Poinhand."
