Gangnam-gu Opens ‘Urban Water Playground’ for Children and Infants After 4 Years

Two Locations at Yulhyeon Park and Irwon Eco Park Operate from July 28 to August 8... Water Play Facilities Equipped with Large and Small Pools and Slides

Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will operate ‘Urban Water Playgrounds’ at two locations, Yulhyeon Park and Irwon Eco Park, for a total of 12 days from July 28 to August 8 to beat the summer heat.

The water playground, held for the first time in 4 years, is a temporary swimming pool for children and infants during the summer. At Irwon Eco Park, various pools for infants and children will be installed, including a large pool (20m×10m×0.9m) and an infant pool (10m×10m×0.5m), while Yulhyeon Park will have 3 to 4 infant pools (10m×10m×0.5m) set up.

The pools will feature water play facilities such as slides and tunnel fountains, as well as rest areas with parasols.

The operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., divided into morning sessions (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and afternoon sessions (2 p.m. to 5 p.m.). Admission tickets can be reserved in advance on the district office website starting at 6 p.m. the day before the desired date. Each session accepts up to 300 people on a first-come, first-served basis.

For safe and comfortable use of the water playground, wearing swim caps and aqua shoes is mandatory, and only simple foods such as fruits and baby food are allowed. Although temporary and public parking lots are provided, space is limited, so the use of public transportation is recommended.

Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “I hope people can cool off at the urban water playground held for the first time in 4 years,” and added, “We will thoroughly manage the safety and hygiene of the water playground so that children can use it safely and enjoyably.”
