Yangsan City in Gyeongnam Province will expand the criteria for the illegal parking resident reporting system starting in August.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has unified and expanded the prohibited parking zones to six areas by including sidewalks in the five major no-parking zones: crosswalks, school zones, intersection corners, bus stops, and fire hydrants. Accordingly, Yangsan City will also expand the criteria for the illegal parking resident reporting system to include sidewalk areas.
The illegal parking resident reporting system allows residents to report illegal parking by taking photos at set time intervals using the Safe Report app, and fines are imposed without on-site inspections by officials.
With this change to the illegal parking resident reporting system, the photo interval requirement for sidewalk reports using the Safe Report app will be changed from 5 minutes to 1 minute.
The illegal parking resident reporting system for sidewalks will operate 24 hours a day regardless of weekends or holidays, and fines will be imposed in sections where sidewalks and roadways are clearly separated. The changes will be implemented starting August 1 after a one-month guidance period in July to ensure smooth system adoption.
A Yangsan City official stated, “The illegal parking resident reporting system on sidewalks using the Safe Report app is implemented to prevent pedestrian traffic accidents and create a safe walking environment, so we ask for the public’s interest and cooperation.”
