Disinfection Activities in Flooded Areas, Livestock Farms, and Waste Landfills Vulnerable to Contamination
On the 24th, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it is actively promoting quarantine activities targeting infectious disease vulnerable areas to prevent various infectious diseases following the heavy rain.
Concerned about the outbreak of pests after the heavy rain, the county has organized a mobile quarantine team to conduct intensive disinfection and quarantine in vulnerable areas such as flooded areas, landfill sites, and around livestock farms, and plans to continue quarantine activities until the end of October.
After the heavy rain, bacterial dysentery, typhoid fever, and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli infections may occur due to contamination from flooding of livestock farms, garbage waste, and other flooded areas, so caution is required.
To prevent this, environmental management such as cleaning gutters around houses and vacant lots and removing stagnant water in surrounding weeds or puddles is very important.
Personal hygiene management, such as hand washing, is also necessary to prevent infectious diseases among residents.
Water and food must be boiled before consumption, and cutting boards, dishcloths, cooking, and kitchen utensils can be disinfected with boiling water to prevent infectious diseases.
County Governor Lee Byeong-no said, “As temperatures rise after the rainy season, mosquito activity may increase, so we ask for voluntary environmental maintenance,” and added, “We will focus on thorough pest control as well as infectious disease prevention education and publicity to make Damyang safe from infectious diseases.”
