Daegu Dong-gu Office announced on the 24th that it has completed the installation project of heatwave mitigation facilities at Banyaweol Samgeori in Yonggye-dong by investing 1.07 billion KRW.
The Banyaweol Samgeori heatwave mitigation facility installation project involved creating a cascade-style fountain and an observatory at Banyaweol Samgeori, the gateway to Daegu, to contribute to summer heatwave response and urban heat island reduction. It also aimed to enhance the symbolic significance as a regional traffic hub and provide a resting place for local residents to overcome the summer heat.

Daegu Dong-gu Office secured 1 billion KRW from special grants and 70 million KRW from district funds, started construction in December last year, and completed it on the 30th of last month.
The site features a cascade-style fountain, seating walls, nine Ipap trees, 1,610 trees of four species including Geummokseo, and nighttime landscape lighting, offering visual attractions to local residents and visitors, and is expected to serve as a special landmark of Dong-gu.
Yoon Seok-jun, head of Daegu Dong-gu Office, said, “It is very meaningful to have improved the landscape of Banyaweol Samgeori, the main gateway of Dong-gu. Additionally, we will continue to create green spaces around residential areas to improve the quality of life for district residents.”
