On the 21st, the identity of the perpetrator who wielded a weapon in an alley near Exit 4 of Sillim Station in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, killing a man in his 20s and injuring three others, was revealed. He is an unemployed man in his 30s living in Sillim-dong. It was also reported that a post predicting the incident had been made two months prior, adding to the shock.

The suspect, Jo (33), stabbed a man multiple times with a weapon around 2:07 p.m. on the 21st at the entrance of a shopping alley, then moved deeper into the alley, wielding the weapon against passersby for about 10 minutes.

The male victim in his 20s was transported to nearby Boramae Hospital but died, and among the three injured men in their 30s, one was reported to be in critical condition.

The police responded to a report stating "someone is stabbing people and fleeing," and around 2:20 p.m., they arrested Jo on the spot on suspicion of murder.

According to the police on the 22nd, Jo is a Korean with three prior convictions for assault and has been sent to the juvenile court 14 times. In the investigation, Jo stated he is unemployed and had no acquaintance with the victims.

CCTV footage from nearby shops shows Jo roaming around the Sillim Station area around 2 p.m., randomly attacking men. Some resisted fiercely, causing Jo to fail in some attacks.

A merchant who witnessed Jo’s crime said, "After the attack, he walked with the victim’s blood on his hands, holding the weapon. His gait looked calm."

When the police arrived, Jo said, "I don’t want to live," and complied with the arrest without much resistance.

Jo lived between his residence in Incheon and his grandmother’s house in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, and it was confirmed that he had visited his grandmother’s house just before the crime. The police searched both of Jo’s residences in the afternoon and voluntarily collected one mobile phone.

The police conducted a preliminary drug test on Jo, which came back negative, and requested a detailed analysis from the National Forensic Service.

Netizens shared the situation, saying, "A man with medium-length black hair dressed in black is said to be wandering around Sillim Station carrying a 15 cm knife.
