According to the Ulsan Fire Headquarters and Ulsan Dongbu Police Station on the 20th, a package wrapped in a yellow envelope was found in the mailbox of a welfare facility for the disabled located in Dong-gu, Ulsan.
Three employees, including the director, brought the package inside and opened it, after which they complained of dizziness, respiratory distress, and paralysis symptoms and were transported to a hospital. It is currently reported that their lives are not in danger.
The problematic package was double-wrapped with paper and air cap, and it is presumed that the envelope contained a colorless and odorless gas without any other items inside.
The recipient's name and phone number were written on the outside of the envelope, but there were no employees or residents with that name at the facility, and the phone number was found to be invalid.
The police identified that three days prior, cosmetics had been sent to this facility in a yellow envelope from Taiwan and are investigating any connection.
The military chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) unit, public health center, and Ministry of Environment collected air samples and conducted preliminary tests. The results showed no reaction to radiation or chemical substances, and samples will be sent to the Agency for Defense Development for detailed analysis.
