Busan City Opens 'Busan Industrial Complex Environmental Improvement Support Center'... Reducing Air Pollutants in Industrial Complex Busan Industrial Complex Environment Improvement Support Center.

About 100 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony, including National Assembly member Jo Kyung-tae, Ju Young-jun, Director of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Lee Kyung-deok, Director of Future Industry Bureau of Busan City, Busan City Council members Seong Chang-yong and Lee Bok-jo, Jung Young-ran, Deputy Mayor of Saha-gu, and representatives from related companies.

The center was established as part of the ‘Industrial Complex Environmental Improvement Infrastructure Project’ through collaboration among Busan City, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Busan Technopark, Korea Conformity Laboratories, and Busan Machinery Industry Cooperative, with a total project cost of approximately 18.7 billion KRW. It is a three-story building with a total floor area of 240㎡.

The facility serves as infrastructure to support the reduction of air pollutants such as fine dust emitted by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-sized companies within the industrial complex, as well as the development of reduction technologies and the search for systematic management plans.

The main roles of the center are as follows.

It supports the analysis of causes and contributors to emissions for each SME and mid-sized company by monitoring air pollutants and emission volumes in real time at industrial sites, conducting precise measurements and analyses to reduce air pollutant emissions.

It supports on-site demonstration through deriving improvement plans via customized consulting for companies and applying technologies by establishing reduction facilities.

It provides support such as performance testing and certification of environmental industry-based materials, parts, and equipment, as well as education to strengthen the capabilities of companies possessing air pollutant reduction technologies.

Lee Kyung-deok, Director of the Future Industry Bureau of Busan City, stated, “This center construction project aims to support emission reduction through precise analysis of air pollutants at industrial sites by industry type within aging industrial complexes. Going forward, this center will contribute not only to strengthening the air pollutant reduction technology capabilities of local SMEs and mid-sized companies but also to improving the air environment of aging industrial complexes through actual reduction of air pollutant emissions.”
