3-Year-Old Baby Panda Pubao Celebrates Birthday, Tops Book Pre-Order Sales

In the Yes24 comprehensive bestseller list for the third week of July, the limited edition recover edition "Baby Panda Pubao," released to celebrate Pubao's 3rd birthday, quickly took the top spot through pre-orders alone. The proportion of female buyers for the book was overwhelmingly high at 87.6%. By age group, buyers in their 20s (28.9%) and 30s (47.4%) accounted for 76.3%.

"Seino's Teachings," a collection of columns by billionaire Seino, and "Science Study for Humanities Men" by author Yoo Si-min, which combines scientific thinking with humanistic reflection, ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively. "Stolen Focus," selected as Amazon and Wall Street Journal's Book of the Year and addressing the issue of modern people's declining concentration, re-entered the list at 4th place, while beloved Korean novelist Bernard Werber's new novel "The Prophecy of the Bees 1" ranked 5th.

With the start of the summer vacation season, the children's and comics/light novel categories made significant advances. Among new comics/light novels, "Skip and Looper 6," which aired as a TV animation in April and gained popularity, and the new volume of the popular fantasy action manga series "My Hero Academia 38 Triple Special Edition" achieved 8th and 17th place respectively through pre-orders. In the children's category, "Common Brothers Science Exploration Team 8 Biology 2" took 10th place, and the new volume of the children's creative fairy tale series "The Strange Candy Store Jeoncheon-dang 18," which has surpassed 2 million copies sold domestically, ranked 15th through pre-orders.

Yang Hee-eun's new essay "It Can Be Like That" also drew attention by entering the top 20. It offers a cooler Yang Hee-eun style of comfort with deeper stories, calm reflections, and insights into life behind her career as a singer, compared to her previous work "Just Do It."

In the eBook category, the new model of the e-reader "Crema Motif" White from the Crema series held the number one spot for three consecutive weeks.

At Kyobo Bookstore, "Seino's Teachings," which had previously held the comprehensive number one spot for 17 consecutive weeks, returned to the top position. It is expected to continue its record of 18 weeks at number one. Following the news of Milan Kundera's passing, sales of his representative work "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" increased, re-entering the novel category at 16th place. Additionally, sales of books such as "The Festival of Meaninglessness" and "Jokes" rose 4.2 times compared to the previous week.
