Dong-A University Hosts 'Language Trainee K-POP Contest'

The Office of External and International Affairs at Dong-A University hosted the ‘2023 Academic Year Language Trainee K-POP Contest.’


The event, held on the 19th at Dawoo Hall on the Bumin Campus to encourage Korean language proficiency and improve learning abilities among language trainees at Dong-A University Korean Language Institute and enrolled international students, was attended by about 600 people including participating teams and Korean Language Institute students.


On this day, 21 teams of international students from Vietnam, India, Myanmar, and Japan took the stage to showcase their K-POP singing and dancing skills.


The participants prepared a diverse repertoire ranging from idol songs like ‘Queencard (G)I-DLE’ and ‘super (SEVENTEEN)’ to ballads such as ‘If It Was You (Jung Seung-hwan),’ ‘I Will Go to You Like the First Snow (Ailee),’ and ‘From Mother to Daughter (Yang Hee-eun).’

The first prize went to student Vishaka, who performed the stage of ‘Eve, Psyche and the Bluebeard’s Wife (LE SSERAFIM).’


The second prize was awarded to Nguyen Tam Tam, who performed the dance for BLACKPINK’s ‘Pink Venom,’ and Nguyen Thi Thuy Tao, who sang IU’s ‘My Old Story.’


Additionally, students Lu Thi Hong Muoi, Dao Hong Phong & Nguyen Thi Hong Ban, and Le Thi Cam Nguyen & Le Thi Bit Giang won third place, while Mai Thi Huong Giang received the popularity award.


Vishaka, who won first place, said, “I love K-POP and dancing, so I enjoyed performing on stage, but I never imagined I would win first place. I sincerely thank everyone for giving me and other students who have passion and interest in K-POP such a great opportunity.”
