On the 18th, the National Police Agency's YouTube channel posted a video titled "Did you dream of a perfect crime by changing clothes 3 times while escaping?" The video showed a man, Mr. A, who stole a gold necklace worth about 6 million won from a jewelry store located in Dong-gu, Daejeon, last April and fled.
Wearing a black long-sleeve top, Mr. A seemed interested in the necklace and fiddled with it. When the owner briefly looked away, he grabbed the necklace he was holding and ran out of the jewelry store.
Afterwards, Mr. A took off the long-sleeve top and put on a white short-sleeve shirt, then sold the gold necklace at another jewelry store located in Jung-gu. After collecting the money, he took a taxi to Seogu, entered a lodging facility, changed clothes once again, and came out.

In this way, Mr. A changed clothes a total of three times and took taxis six times to evade the investigation, but was eventually caught by the police within a day.
The Daejeon Dongbu Police Station announced that after analyzing hundreds of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras over 24 hours, they caught Mr. A at a motel in Dunsan-dong, Seogu, Daejeon. Mr. A had previously been released from prison for similar offenses and is known to have committed the crime after running out of money.
After the video was released, netizens reacted with comments such as "Do they think they can catch the criminal just by the clothes?" and "Doing such a foolish thing in South Korea, where CCTV is everywhere, is unbelievable."
