'Bespoke Refrigerator 4-Door' Wins for 2 Consecutive Years

Samsung Electronics announced on the 20th that it received the 'Carbon Neutral Winner Award' for two consecutive years at a government-sponsored energy awards ceremony. Last year, the company was recognized for reducing carbon emissions throughout the entire product lifecycle, and this year it received high marks for executing its 'New Environmental Management Strategy.' The New Environmental Management Strategy, announced by Samsung Electronics in September last year, centers on achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and joining the RE100 campaign (100% renewable energy power supply).

Samsung Electronics stated that it won the 'Carbon Neutral Winner Award' and the 'Energy Grand Prize' at the 26th Annual Energy Winner Awards hosted by the Consumer Citizens' Coalition and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment, and the Korea Energy Agency. The Carbon Neutral Winner Award was received for two consecutive years, and the Energy Grand Prize for five consecutive years. The Carbon Neutral Grand Prize is awarded to companies excelling in environmental management, while the Energy Winner Award is given to outstanding products.

Regarding receiving the Carbon Neutral Winner Award for two consecutive years, Samsung Electronics said, "This is the result of recognition for our efforts in implementing the New Environmental Management Strategy." The company plans to achieve carbon neutrality by zeroing out direct and indirect carbon net emissions at the corporate level by 2050. The goal is to realize carbon neutrality in the DX (consumer electronics and mobile) sector by 2030 and in the DS (semiconductor) sector by 2050.

Through ultra-low power technology innovation, Samsung aims to reduce power consumption during the product usage phase and maximize resource circulation throughout the entire product lifecycle from raw materials to disposal. Low-power technology will be applied to seven major electronic products including smartphones, TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, PCs, and monitors. By 2030, the company plans to improve power consumption by an average of 30% compared to 2019 models with the same performance. Additionally, 50% of plastic parts will be made from recycled resin by 2030, increasing to 100% by 2050.

Eight major home appliances received the 'Energy Winner Award.' The 'Bespoke Refrigerator 4-Door' won the Energy Winner Award for two consecutive years. By improving inverter compressor efficiency and insulation materials, power consumption was reduced by 17% compared to previous models. It exceeded the energy efficiency grade 1 standard by 22%. The vacuum insulation panel's internal molding method and adsorbent components were changed to enhance insulation performance. The usage area was expanded to significantly reduce heat conduction. Using Samsung Electronics' smart home platform SmartThings' 'AI Saving Mode' can further reduce energy consumption by up to 15%. AI Saving Mode is available on eight types of Bespoke home appliances including refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, and air conditioners.

The 'Bespoke Washer' received the Energy Saving Award. Its capacity increased from 12-person to 14-person, while maintaining energy and water usage. Energy efficiency was improved to allow more capacity with the same energy. The 'Bespoke Wind-Free Air Conditioner Window Fit' also received the Energy Saving Award, recognized for approximately 13% improvement in cooling area and about 12% improvement in cooling energy efficiency compared to previous models. Products such as the 'Galaxy Book3 Pro 360,' 'Neo QLED 8K TV,' 'Bespoke Grande Washing Machine AI,' 'Bespoke Grande Dryer AI,' and 'Bespoke Induction' also received the Energy Winner Award.
