‘Seed Cube Changdong,’ which will become the center of startup and cultural industry complexes in Northeast Seoul, has been established in Dobong-gu.

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that the completion ceremony for ‘Seed Cube Changdong,’ constructed at 1-28 Changdong, Dobong-gu, Seoul, was held on the 19th.

The ceremony was attended by more than 300 guests and residents, including Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul, Oh Ki-hyung, Member of the National Assembly, the Chairperson and members of Dobong-gu Council, and Kim Jae-seop, Chairperson of the People Power Party Dobong-gap District Committee, allowing attendees to feel the high expectations for ‘Seed Cube Changdong.’

After delivering his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Oh Eon-seok expressed his vision, stating, “‘Seed Cube Changdong’ will become the center of startup and cultural industry complexes in the northeast region and will play a key role in leading 50 years of growth and 100 years of future.”

‘Seed Cube Changdong’ is a complex facility (total floor area of 143,533㎡) built to create a startup and cultural industry complex in the northeast area, with a total project cost of approximately 360.9 billion KRW. It consists of office spaces (46,209㎡), residential spaces (58,198㎡), and various commercial, cultural, and neighborhood living facilities (27,739㎡).

The district implemented a special supply of 200 units of ‘Youth Housing’ within the residential space of ‘Seed Cube Changdong’ to alleviate the housing burden on local youth. In the office space, the district is promoting the establishment and operation of the ‘Youth Startup Support Center,’ ‘SME Startup Incubation Center,’ and ‘Youth Employment Academy’ to lay the foundation for the employment and startup ecosystem in Northeast Seoul.

First, through the ‘Youth Startup Support Center,’ tailored support will be provided for tenant companies’ management and growth stages. This includes customized consulting for young early-stage entrepreneurs within two years, dedicated mentoring, fostering a startup community environment, and managing network building.

Additionally, to provide a foundation for the growth and expansion of youth and startup companies, the ‘SME Startup Incubation Center’ will be relocated and expanded to ‘Seed Cube Changdong.’ It will offer step-by-step support such as startup incubation spaces, startup education, and facility maintenance management for startups established less than seven years ago.

The ‘Youth Employment Academy,’ operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, will also be relocated to ‘Seed Cube Changdong’ and is scheduled to open in December. Based on the trained workforce here, Dobong-gu plans to intensively nurture the 3D content production sector as a specialized industry.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “I am very pleased that a landmark facility where you can feel the future of Dobong-gu has been completed,” and added, “We will do our best to create quality future jobs and provide opportunities for youth growth based on ‘Seed Cube Changdong.’”
