Although the heavy rain warning has been lifted, some sections experienced subgrade washouts and track subsidence on the 18th, leading to the assessment that the facilities remain unstable. Therefore, the current suspension of some KTX and regular train operations will be maintained until safety is secured.

With the heavy rain warning lifted from 1 a.m. today, KORAIL began nationwide inspections of railway facilities early this morning to resume train operations on general lines.

First, sections and facilities vulnerable to soil erosion, such as cut slopes and hillsides, will be thoroughly inspected. Bridges and subgrades of rivers under flood warnings will undergo detailed safety inspections jointly conducted with external structural and geotechnical experts. Inspection procedures will be strengthened through test train operations and visual checks.

In particular, restoration work is being prioritized for slope failures and soil inflows that occurred the previous day.

KORAIL plans to gradually resume operations of KTX general lines and regular trains, which have been suspended, starting from the 20th on a line-by-line basis, after comprehensively considering the results of detailed facility inspections and weather conditions to ensure safety.
