Gangdong-gu Operates ‘Our Summer Story’
Creating Unique Summer Vacation Memories in Nature through Rural and Dairy Farming Experiences
Participant Recruitment Closed Early Due to Popularity, Second Round Scheduled for August
Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Suhee) announced on the 19th that it will operate a unique nature experience camp called ‘Our Summer Story’ to provide adolescents with a wholesome and enjoyable summer vacation.
‘Our Summer Story’ is a one-day nature experience camp designed to help young people create joyful memories of nature through various outdoor activities and to relieve stress from academic pressures. The camp is held twice, divided into first and second sessions based on the experience themes.
The first camp, themed around rural experiences, began recruiting participants on the 12th and quickly closed due to high demand. Participants will have special experiences not available in the city, such as rural food experiences and rural lifestyle activities at the Oegatjip Experience Village in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do.
The second camp, themed around dairy farming, will take place at Wow Farm in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, where participants can engage in activities such as feeding calves and giving hay.
Recruitment for the second camp of ‘Our Summer Story’ will be held from August 22 to September 12. Any adolescents aged 10 to 18 who live or attend school in Gangdong-gu can apply. Detailed application methods will be posted on the Gangdong-gu Office website in mid-August.
Jung Hyejeong, Director of the Child and Youth Division, said, “Through this experience, we expect that adolescents will develop social skills and consideration while bonding with friends in nature, and recover their mental and physical health from academic fatigue.”
