Held on the 20th at 1:30 PM at Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center
Addressing Labor Shortage, Providing Jobs for Foreign Students, Encouraging Local Settlement
Busan City will hold a 'Foreign Student Employment Fair' at 1:30 PM on the 20th at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX) to alleviate the manpower shortage of local companies and provide job opportunities for foreign students to settle in the region.
This employment fair is linked to the pilot project 'Regional Specialized Visa for Local Outstanding Talent (F-2-R),' which is being promoted to respond to population decline and revitalize the local economy.
The fair is hosted by Busan City and jointly organized by the Busan Global City Foundation (CEO Hwang Gi-sik) and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency (Director Jin Yang-hyun), with the Busan Immigration Office (Chief Lee Dong-hwi) participating as a supporting institution.
At this fair, about 300 participants including 16 Busan-based companies in industries permitted under the regional specialized visa and foreign students from local universities will take part.
The fair will feature on-site interviews conducted by hiring managers for direct recruitment between companies and students, and online recruitment will also be available. Applicants unable to attend in person can apply online from July 21 to August 4.
Additionally, side events such as makeup, hairstyling, and ID photo shoots will be provided for job seekers.
Foreign students wishing to participate in the fair can pre-register via the QR code or visit the venue on the day of the event.
The 'Regional Specialized Visa Pilot Project for Local Talent' is a system that issues a residence (F-2) visa to outstanding foreign talents who meet certain conditions, such as graduating from a Busan local university, on the condition that they reside and work in population-declining areas (Dong-gu, Seo-gu, Yeongdo-gu).
When foreign talents secure employment, a recommendation letter from the Busan Mayor is issued to allow them to change their status of stay to a residence visa. Ultimately, after review by the Ministry of Justice Immigration Office, the residence visa is granted, enabling them to live and work in Busan.
Busan City was selected in a Ministry of Justice public contest last December and is conducting the pilot project targeting Dong-gu, Seo-gu, and Yeongdo-gu, having recruited 38 out of the allocated quota of 110 people.
Nam Jeong-eun, Director of the Youth Industry-Academia Division of the city, said, “Employment is a key requirement for the regional specialized visa, so this employment fair is expected to be a great opportunity for companies facing manpower shortages and foreign students wishing to settle in Busan.” She added, “We will continue to make efforts in various ways to ensure that talents produced by local universities can settle in Busan.”
