Preventing Overseas and Unreported Business Trips... Seodaemun District Council Takes Direct Action

Report on the District Council Results on the 21st, Also Live-Streamed on YouTube

As overseas business trips by local council members have repeatedly sparked controversy, the district council is arranging a meeting to directly explain to residents.

The Seodaemun District Council of Seoul (Chairman Lee Dong-hwa) announced on the 19th that it will hold the "2023 Overseas Official Business Trip Resident Report Meeting" on the morning of the 21st at the council's main conference hall on the 4th floor, which will also be broadcast live on its YouTube channel.

In May, the district council divided into two teams and conducted official overseas business trips to Japan and Germany-Austria. The council members themselves will now report the results of these trips directly to the residents.

In particular, the council submitted official overseas business trip reports to the review committee and published the contents on its website. In addition, the purpose is to create a communication platform to share what was seen, heard, felt, and learned during the trips, and to inform residents about parts that can be applied to policies. The Seodaemun District Council also held a similar resident report meeting for overseas official business trips in 2019.

Lee Dong-hwa, Chairman of the Seodaemun District Council, said, “Since these overseas official business trips were funded by residents' taxes, we take pride in having conducted meaningful and substantial trips,” and added, “We hope many people will participate both online and offline and leave diverse opinions.”
