Jeong Jong-bok, Gijang County Governor, Conducts Emergency On-Site Inspection of Heavy Rain Damage

Jung Jong-bok, the mayor of Gijang County, personally inspected the damage caused by the heavy rain and instructed to ensure prompt emergency recovery and thorough preparation for additional damage.

On the morning of the 17th, Mayor Jung visited the collapsed residential wall area in Gyori, Gijang-eup, and the collapsed retaining wall area of Sojeongcheon in Naeri, sequentially confirming the damage situation and discussing emergency damage recovery measures.

Previously, on the 16th, a heavy rain warning and landslide advisory were issued throughout Gijang County, and Mayor Jung chaired an emergency countermeasure meeting. Afterwards, he visited landslide-prone areas around Byeongsan-ri, Jeonggwan-eup, and the area around Jwagwangcheon to closely inspect the overall disaster response situation.

Mayor Jung Jong-bok emphasized, “We must strengthen surveillance of disaster-prone areas and establish a rapid response system to protect the precious lives and property of the residents.”

He added, “In the event of damage, preparations must be made to ensure swift rescue operations and damage recovery, along with thorough damage investigations and solid permanent restoration measures to prevent recurrence.”

Since the heavy rain advisory was issued on the 15th, Gijang County has been operating the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, and following the issuance of a heavy rain warning at 9:50 p.m. on the 15th, the emergency level was raised to level 2, maintaining a 24-hour emergency response system.

Each department has designated its jurisdiction and is conducting intensive inspections and emergency recovery activities for relevant facilities and areas, putting full effort into disaster response.
