"Asiana Airlines Activates Emergency Measures in Preparation for Pilot Union Strike"

Operating a 63-Member TF Team

Asiana Airlines is taking measures in response to the pilot labor union's strike notice. Since last month, the company has been operating the ‘APU Strike Response Task Force (TF)’ to minimize damage caused by collective actions of the pilot union. CEO Won Yu-seok is leading the TF team, which consists of 63 members including executives and department heads.

With the pilot union announcing a strike starting on the 24th, the TF is working to minimize damage to passengers, cargo owners, and the travel industry. If the strike proceeds, supply could be reduced by up to 20% on international routes and 50% on domestic routes, prompting plans for flight reductions and schedule adjustments.

Meanwhile, due to the pilot union's collective actions starting from the 7th, 2 international flights and 10 domestic flights were canceled by the 16th, and a total of 56 international and domestic flights were delayed.

An Asiana Airlines official stated, "The pilot labor union is holding customers hostage through collective action to demand a wage increase. Considering fairness with other labor unions that have already agreed to wage increases and the company's financial situation, the pilot union's demands are self-serving and disregard the company's circumstances."

They added, "Given the current situation of the company, it is impossible to fully accept the pilot union's demands. We urge the pilot union to immediately cancel the strike notice and negotiate with sincerity."
