Earlier, Lee visited the site of the underground passage in Osong, Cheongju, Chungbuk, which was flooded and where casualties occurred due to the heavy rain. He stated, "It is judged that equipment, facilities, and manpower support are especially necessary," and emphasized, "I once again urge the full mobilization of available military units and resources."
He added, "Farmers are very concerned about crop damage, so I request a review to ensure that compensation or support for crop damage can be realized," and promised, "The Democratic Party will actively cooperate in the national disaster recovery efforts. We will maintain an emergency system at the level of provincial party organizations and regional committees nationwide and make every effort to support restoration."
Lee said, "Heavy rain is expected to continue this week, and except for Jeju, a landslide warning has been issued nationwide, creating an emergency situation," urging, "The government and local governments should fully mobilize administrative power to prevent additional casualties." He also stressed, "We must never repeat preventable man-made disasters," and emphasized, "There must be rapid and proactive safety measures for vulnerable facilities."
