Half of the Damaged Farmland Is in Jeonbuk
Due to the rain that started on the 10th, damage such as flooding occurred on 20,000 hectares of farmland, and 560,000 livestock died.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 16th at 10 a.m. that the area of farmland reported to have damage from crop flooding or crop flooding combined with fruit drop reached 19,927.2 hectares.
Jeonbuk accounts for half of the total damaged area with 9,796.4 hectares (49.2%). The scale of damage was large in Chungnam with 7,163.2 hectares and Gyeongbuk with 1,562.7 hectares, in that order.
As of 10 a.m. on the same day, it was tentatively estimated that 561,000 livestock had died due to the heavy rain. By livestock type, chickens accounted for most with 512,000 (91.3%), followed by ducks at 43,000, pigs at 4,000, and cattle at 2,000.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a heavy rain response situation inspection meeting on the same day to discuss measures to minimize additional damage. Han Hoon, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, urged officials to promptly restore the damage that has occurred so far and to make maximum use of available resources in the agricultural sector to minimize damage.
