Jeon Seong-su, the mayor of Seocho District, is gaining attention for his consistently humble attitude, which is highly praised both inside and outside the office.

He is evaluated as showing the same humble demeanor whether meeting staff or residents, maintaining the same attitude as when he first took office.

Because of this, Seocho District office employees say, "Our mayor is such a wonderful person," and express their determination to support him even more diligently.

A district office manager recently told a reporter, "I've never seen a mayor like this before," adding, "I have never seen his attitude change since he took office."

Mayor Jeon graduated from Seoul National University Law School and passed the 31st Administrative Examination. He served as head of the Cleaning Department and Social Welfare Department in Yongsan District before moving to Seoul City, where he held key positions such as Administrative Director and General Affairs Director.

He later worked at the Blue House as an administrative officer and senior administrative officer, then served as Consul General in Thailand, spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Deputy Mayor of Incheon City, making him a veteran administrator with an impressive career.

Mayor Jeon, along with Choi Ho-gwon, mayor of Yeongdeungpo District and a fellow Seoul National University alumnus, became the People Power Party candidates without a primary and was elected as mayor in the 8th local election, actively working for regional development.

He is praised for showing a consistently humble attitude from beginning to end, earning genuine respect from his staff.

In particular, upon being elected as the 8th mayor of Seocho District, he was the only Seoul district mayor who did not form a transition committee, citing that it would burden the staff, and instead received work reports directly, a fact that impressed officials in Seoul and other autonomous districts.

Mayor Jeon recently told a reporter, "Seocho District has a better surrounding environment than other districts, so we must work even harder for the residents."

In many other districts such as Dongdaemun, Mapo, and Yeongdeungpo, the district councils are often composed with a minority ruling party, creating a challenging political environment.

Because of his consistently humble attitude, it is said that Seocho district council members also treat Mayor Jeon differently.

A recent Seocho District Council official said, "Mayor Jeon Seong-su’s attitude toward council members is also consistently humble, so the members seem to treat him differently as well."

This was cited as evidence that Mayor Jeon sincerely engages with the council members.
