Power Outage in 9,526 Households... Communication Disruptions

As heavy rain continued for three days, landslides in Bonghwa, Yecheon, Mungyeong, and Yeongju in Gyeongbuk resulted in 3 deaths and 13 missing persons, causing continuous casualties.

According to Bonghwa County on the 15th, a mountainside collapsed in Seodong-ri, Chunyang-myeon, Bonghwa County, burying a house and presumably killing 2 people.


A county official stated that it is presumed that two people, a woman in her 60s and an unidentified man, died in the accident.


At around 2:45 a.m., in Jinpyeong-ri, Gamcheon-myeon, Yecheon County, a mountainside collapsed, burying a house in soil and debris, and 2 people were buried, with 9 residents currently out of contact.


Earlier, at 2:36 a.m., a similar accident occurred in Gajwa-ri, Sambuk-myeon, Mungyeong City, where one of two residents in a house was buried and the other was injured.


In Samga-ri, Punggi-eup, Yeongju City, a landslide occurred at 7:20 a.m., burying two houses. A man in his 60s died in the accident, and a woman in her 20s living in the same house is missing. A man in his 50s living nearby was rescued and transported to a hospital.


At 6:20 a.m. in Galsan-ri, Jangsu-myeon, Yeongju City, a house was buried, trapping two people, and rescue authorities are conducting rescue operations.


The Gyeongbuk Province stated, "Although 9 people are missing in Yecheon, access to the site is currently impossible."


Communication disruptions due to heavy rain continue. In Sangju, 37 households experienced outages, and power outages occurred in 9,526 households in Mungyeong, Yeongju, and Yecheon. Currently, restoration work has been completed for 6,648 households, but 2,878 households are still without electricity supply.


There was one case of road slope collapse in Andong, and three cases of water supply and sewage damage occurred in Yecheon.
