The Korea Communications Commission announced that, according to the '2023 Personal Location Information Business Registration Adequacy Review Plan' announced last January, it will accept applications for the 4th round of personal location information business registration from August 14 to 21.
Corporations wishing to apply for location information business registration (or approval for mergers, etc.) can apply through the Electronic Civil Service Center, and the final review documents, modified or supplemented after application, should be submitted in person or by mail to the Internet User Policy Division of the Korea Communications Commission.
After receiving registration applications, the Korea Communications Commission will form an advisory committee of external experts to conduct a comprehensive evaluation in accordance with relevant laws, including the soundness of financial structure, the adequacy of the scale of facilities related to the location information business, and the appropriateness of administrative and technical measures for location information protection. If necessary during the evaluation, the opinions of the applying corporation will be heard.
An explanatory session on how to prepare registration application documents will be held online on the 27th using the On-Nara PC video conference system to facilitate participation by corporations wishing to register.
Applications for approval regarding the transfer of location information business or mergers and divisions of corporations as location information business operators can be submitted at any time without a separate application period.
