Flood Damage Continues Across Jeonbuk Region... No Casualties Reported
Samrye Bridge Water Level at 7.3m as of 2:20 PM... Rising
A flood warning has been issued for the Mangyeong River due to heavy rain concentrated in the Jeonbuk region. The Yeongsan River Flood Control Office upgraded the alert from a flood advisory to a flood warning at 10:40 a.m. on the 14th for the Samrye Bridge section in Wanju-gun within the Mangyeong River basin. As of 2:20 p.m., the water level at Samrye Bridge is rising at 7.3 meters.
Earlier, at 9:20 a.m., a flood advisory was issued for the Misan Bridge section in Jeonju City, part of the Mangyeong River basin. The water level at Misan Bridge was 3.47 meters and stable as of 2:20 p.m. A flood advisory was also issued at 9 a.m. for the Seomjin River in Imsil-gun. The water level at Iljung-ri, Deokchi-myeon, Imsil-gun, in the Seomjin River basin, was rising at 3.85 meters as of 2:20 a.m. At 7:30 a.m., a flood advisory was issued for Chogang-ri, Jeongwoo-myeon, Jeongeup City, in the Dongjin River basin.

Jeonbuk Province is restricting vehicle access to eight riverside floodplain parking lots in areas with high flood risk, including Jeonju, Jeongeup, Namwon, Gimje, Jangsu, and Sunchang. Access to 113 trails in national parks and provincial/county parks, as well as 30 riverside walking paths, has also been blocked. Seventeen sections of low-lying roads in Jeonju and Wanju are also closed.
All five ferry routes operating between Gunsan and Buan are suspended. Due to rising water levels in the Iksancheon River, evacuation advisories have been issued for 20 villages in Chunpo-myeon, Iksan City.
Roads and embankments have been damaged. On the 13th, rockfalls occurred on Local Road 795 in Jeongcheon-myeon, Jinan. On the 14th, road damage occurred in Sangseo-myeon, Buan (National Road 23), landslides in Unju-myeon, Wanju (National Road 17), and embankment damage at Bongdeokcheon in Gochang-eup, Gochang, all of which have undergone emergency repairs.
Vehicles and houses have been flooded in various locations. A retaining wall collapsed on Wongwanwon-gil in Gunsan City, prompting one resident to evacuate to the village hall. Two vehicles were submerged in Hyoja-dong, Wansan-gu, Jeonju City. House flooding continued, with two houses in Gunsan, one in Gochang, and two in Buan affected; drainage and recovery efforts are underway.
A Jeonbuk Province official stated, "We will strengthen monitoring of disaster-prone areas due to continued rainfall and continuously monitor damage situations to manage the situation proactively and aim for zero casualties during the summer season." They added, "We will also implement measures to prevent secondary damage, including rapid emergency response in affected areas."
Meanwhile, as of noon, heavy rain warnings are in effect for eight cities and counties in Jeonbuk Province, with heavy rain advisories for six other cities and counties. Strong winds and very heavy rainfall are expected until the 16th. The forecasted rainfall is 100 to 250 mm, with some areas receiving over 400 mm.
