"Arguing Over Breaking Up"... High School Girl Kills Classmate

Attempted Suicide After Killing Friend, Failed
Reported to 112 and Surrendered, Police Requested Arrest Warrant

An arrest warrant has been requested for a high school girl who killed a classmate friend with whom she was once close after a dispute.

On the 13th, Dunsan Police Station in Daejeon announced that they have requested an arrest warrant for high school student A (17) on suspicion of murder for killing a classmate friend.

A is suspected of visiting her friend B’s home in Seo-gu, Daejeon, around noon the previous day, assaulting B, and strangling her to death. Both attend the same high school and were known to be close. It was revealed that A had gone to B’s house on the day of the crime to talk with her.

During the police investigation, A stated, "B, who I had been close with since enrollment, recently said she wanted to end our friendship. On that day, I went to her house to return some of her belongings." She added, "While discussing this issue with B, we got into an argument, and I committed the crime." It was confirmed that A did not use any weapons and committed the act with her bare hands. After B’s death, A reportedly attempted to take her own life but failed and then directly reported the incident to the police.

The police have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to determine the exact cause of B’s death. They also plan to investigate detailed circumstances through digital forensics on the victim’s electronic devices.

A’s pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) is expected to be held at the Daejeon District Court as early as the 14th, with the decision on detention likely to be made that day. A representative from Dunsan Police Station in Daejeon stated, "Based on A’s claims, we will continue investigating the circumstances of the case, including the relationship with B, after securing custody."
