Lee Soo-hee, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, attended the opening ceremony of the ‘Gangil-dong Smart Welfare Center’ on the 12th.
About 30 people attended the event, including the mayor, the head of the Kyungbok College Industry-Academic Cooperation Group, a director from DongSung Pharmaceutical, and heads of organizations from Gangil-dong and Sangil 2-dong. The event featured a donation ceremony, cake cutting, and digital device experiences.
Mayor Lee Soo-hee, who was present at the site, said, “The opening of the Gangil-dong Smart Welfare Center is a small first step toward providing accessible welfare services to the Gangil and Sangil areas,” adding, “I hope this place becomes a space where residents find comfort for their hearts and convenience in their daily lives after its opening.”
The ‘Gangil-dong Smart Welfare Center’ was established on the 3rd floor of the Gangil 2 District community facility (95 Sangil-ro 12-gil), near Gangil Station on Line 5, to provide customized welfare support for residents of the Gangil and Sangil areas.
It was promoted as a campaign pledge of the 8th local government administration, with installation starting in July last year and completed in June this year.
At this center, comprehensive social welfare services such as ▲education and cultural programs ▲case management for welfare recipients ▲creation of resident networks ▲specialized projects by neighborhood will be provided tailored to the local conditions and characteristics.
Additionally, an ‘Open Counseling Room’ will be operated regularly to increase accessibility for residents and serve as a customized channel to jointly address local difficulties and issues. The Smart Welfare Center operates on weekdays from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is available to all Gangdong-gu residents.
