The National Gwangju Science Museum aims to spread scientific culture by linking with local government tourism projects.
The National Gwangju Science Museum announced on the 12th that it has signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding for the Linkage of Science and Technology with Regional Tourism Projects’ with Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, and the Gwangju-Jeonnam branch of the Korea Tourism Organization.
These institutions agreed to ▲ jointly operate and promote science-themed travel products utilizing natural tourism attractions in the Gwangju-Jeonnam region ▲ discover science-themed tourism content and develop experiential programs ▲ cooperate to spread scientific culture through the convergence of science and technology with tourism content.
The ‘Star Observation Theme Tour Program’ held on Jaeun Island in Sinan-gun is the first project of cooperation among the three institutions. By providing astronomical observation and local tourism programs together on Jaeun Island, which has low light pollution, it is expected to attract great interest.
This program combines the beautiful natural resources of Jeollanam-do with the science museum’s excellent astronomical observation educational content and is scheduled to be officially operated from the 26th of next month, starting with a fam tour (from the 29th to 30th of this month).
Jeon Tae-ho, Acting Director of the Gwangju Science Museum, stated, “We hope that the discovery of new projects linking science and technology with tourism by each institution will revitalize regional tourism projects and serve as an opportunity to expand the public’s access to scientific culture.”
