Taekwang Industrial Distributes 'Safety and Health Guidebook' to Production Plant Employees

Achieving a 3-No Workplace: No Accidents, No Injuries, No Defects

Taekwang Group's textile and petrochemical affiliate, Taekwang Industrial, announced on the 13th that it has produced a 'Safety and Health Field Guidebook' and distributed it to executives and employees at major production plants.

This guidebook was created with the aim of habituating compliance with safety and health regulations to realize a zero-accident, zero-incident, and zero-defect workplace, with safety and health management as a core value, and to practically prevent accidents that may occur on site. To enhance readability, the content is primarily presented with photos and illustrations so that workers can grasp the information at a glance before starting their shifts.

The guidebook breaks down detailed content in the fields of chemical process safety, machinery and construction safety, electrical safety, and health into over 30 items, emphasizing key points that workers might easily overlook. It compares major regulations such as the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, and is structured to make complex topics like Process Safety Management (PSM), safety signs, and hazardous and dangerous substance regulations easily accessible to workers.

Since 2021, Taekwang Industrial has been working on replacing and inspecting aging and hazardous equipment and enhancing PSM implementation capabilities. In addition to the safety and environment teams operated at each plant, a headquarters safety and health team was established to respond to the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. In March, all plants including Ulsan Petrochemical Plants 1, 2, and 3, and Ulsan Chemical Fiber Plant obtained ISO 45001 certification. ISO 45001, certified by the British Standards Institution (BSI), is an international standard for occupational health and safety management systems that provides practical solutions for worker safety. Furthermore, to raise safety awareness among executives and employees, safety declarations are made before meetings and events at both headquarters and workplaces.

A representative from Taekwang Industrial's safety and health team stated, "This Safety and Health Field Guidebook was initiated to raise awareness about accident occurrences on site," adding, "After analyzing recent corporate accident cases, many could have been sufficiently prevented if at least the minimum safety regulations had been followed." He continued, "We will continue activities to make safety compliance a daily habit and strive to create a zero-accident workplace of the highest standard."
