Gyeongbuk Province Awards Honorary Citizenship Certificates to Actor Lee Jeong-gil, Singer Kim Da-hyun, and Former Lawmaker Lee Yoon-seok

On the 12th, Gyeongbuk Province held the 'Employee Meeting Day with Honorary Residents' event at the provincial office.


Among the six individuals who became honorary residents (Lee Yoon-seok, Lee Jung-gil, Kim Da-hyun, Yoon Hyung-joo, In Yo-han, Jeon Kwang-ryeol), three who attended the event?Honorary President Lee Yoon-seok of Seoul Digital Culture and Arts University, actor Lee Jung-gil, and singer Kim Da-hyun?were awarded honorary resident certificates.

Gyeongbuk Province has enacted the 'Gyeongsangbuk-do Honorary Resident Certificate Award Ordinance' and selects foreigners, overseas Koreans, and prominent domestic figures who have contributed to provincial development as honorary residents, treating them as partners in Gyeongbuk’s progress.


Lee Yoon-seok, Honorary President of Seoul Digital Culture and Arts University, who was selected as an honorary resident this time, was recognized for his contributions as a co-chair of the National Assembly East-West Harmony Forum during his tenure as a 19th National Assembly member, resolving long-standing conflicts between Yeongnam and Honam regions and laying the foundation for mutual coexistence and harmony.


Actor Lee Jung-gil was acknowledged for his special interest in Gyeongbuk, considering it his second hometown, as the province’s first hometown love donor. He contributed to promoting major tourist sites by participating in film and drama shootings in various Gyeongbuk areas featuring themes such as Taeyangin Lee Je-ma, Jikji, and Yeon Gaesomun.


Singer Kim Da-hyun’s song “Hoeryongpo,” performed on Mistrot 2, achieved 11 million views on YouTube, turning the site into a nationally known tourist attraction visited by 2,000 to 3,000 tourists on weekends. She was recognized for her contributions as a cultural and arts ambassador of Gyeongsangbuk-do, Seongju Chamoe ambassador, and Yeongju city ambassador, widely promoting Gyeongsangbuk-do.


Additionally, Professor In Yo-han of Yonsei University College of Medicine, who first designed a Korean-style ambulance in 1992, is expected to play a role as an advisor and ambassador for Gyeongsangbuk-do’s medical policies, including the establishment of a research-oriented medical school amid the province’s vulnerable medical environment. Yoon Hyung-joo, chairman of Korea Habitat, significantly contributed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable housing groups by supporting housing for descendants of independence activists, youth, and wildfire victims in the Gyeongbuk area.


Actor Jeon Kwang-ryeol was also recognized for his contributions as an ambassador for Gyeongbuk’s oriental medicine industry and medical tourism, as well as a special advisor in the cultural tourism sector, providing various policy ideas and promoting cultural tourism resources.


Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “I sincerely congratulate the six individuals who became Gyeongbuk residents starting today, and as honorary residents, I ask you to actively participate not only in the fields of culture, arts, and tourism but also as strong partners in provincial administration.” He urged the attending employees, “Please seek much advice from honorary residents in the future and create various policies to advance the local era led by Gyeongbuk.”
