Indicted Again for Business Interference During Trial
"No Remorse... Bad Nature of the Crime"
A man in his 50s who caused a disturbance by demanding "Why don't you give water?" at a restaurant that provided free food and sexually harassed an employee was sentenced to prison.
The Gwangju District Court Criminal Division 9 (Judge Im Young-sil) announced on the 9th that it sentenced Mr. A (52), who was tried on charges including obstruction of business, sexual assault, and obstruction of official duties, to three years in prison.
Additionally, the court ordered Mr. A to complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and imposed a three-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities.
The court stated, "Despite the defendant's family pleading for leniency, he drank again and caused a disturbance, leading to prosecution for obstruction of business. Considering the circumstances and details of each offense, the nature of the crimes is serious," and added, "He has not corrected his habit of causing disturbances when drinking and does not show remorse, so a prison sentence is imposed."

Mr. A was indicted for causing a disturbance for 24 minutes at a restaurant in Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do, around 1:26 p.m. on December 4 last year. At that time, the restaurant owner, Mr. B, provided Mr. A with free alcohol and food.
However, Mr. A shouted abusive language, saying, "Does this restaurant not even give water?" and assaulted the restaurant staff and Mr. B.
He also threatened to call a gang he knew to kill them, forcibly touched a teenage male part-time worker at the restaurant committing sexual assault, and shouted at other customers, disrupting business.
Mr. A, who was indicted for this incident, was again brought to trial after being charged with obstructing business at a convenience store in Hwasun-gun on March 26 and assaulting police officers who arrived at the scene with punches and other means, and the cases were consolidated for trial.
