The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 9th that it has completed the allocation of I-eum 5G frequencies and the registration of period telecommunications operators to LG Electronics and Megazone Cloud.
With this frequency supply, the number of institutions allocated I-eum 5G frequencies has increased to 13, bringing the total to 23 institutions and 39 locations allocated and designated with I-eum 5G frequencies. LG Electronics plans to verify its products by establishing a performance testbed based on the I-eum 5G communication network at LG Digital Park located in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, featuring artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous mobile robots (AMR), intelligent surveillance cameras (CCTV), and cloud services. It is expected to expand services in various fields such as manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare both domestically and internationally.
Megazone Cloud plans to provide customers with an intelligent logistics system that collects information from CCTV, sensors, and other devices, transmits it to the cloud via I-eum 5G, and then analyzes and manages it. In the future, through the convergence of cloud and I-eum 5G, they plan to introduce various services such as collaboration between robots and humans and prevention of human safety accidents.
Previously, the Ministry of Science and ICT completed the supply of I-eum 5G frequencies for communication solution verification to security solution company Koontec and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, respectively.
