Local Police: "Victim Wore No Underwear Top, Bottom Was Inside Out"
Chinese Couple Arrested on Charges Including Abandonment of Bodies
Last month, regarding the mysterious death of BJ Ayoung in Cambodia, local police made a shocking statement saying they "suspected sexual assault."
On the 8th, SBS's 'Unanswered Questions' aired an episode interviewing experts and local police about the death of BJ Ayoung, who died under mysterious circumstances in Cambodia in June. In the broadcast, the Cambodian police in charge of the case explained in the interview, "The cause of death appears to be asphyxiation," adding, "The hospital suspected side effects from medication."
The police also stated, "At the time, the victim was not wearing an upper underwear garment and was wearing the lower underwear inside out," and added, "We suspected sexual assault."
The broadcast also included an interview with the husband of a Chinese couple who were arrested as suspects and detained in prison in connection with the case.
The husband said about BJ Ayoung's death, "She asked me to give her an injection, but I did not. There were already injection marks on her body before that," and continued, "Since I did not give her the injection, she just fell asleep. Later, I saw her foaming at the mouth and unconscious, so I gave her emergency medicine and supplied oxygen, but she died."
He admitted, "I acknowledge the concealment of the body. I was flustered, scared, and had no money," and said, "It is natural to be punished for concealing a corpse. But my wife did not know."
The experts had a different opinion. In the broadcast, experts pointed out that based on CCTV footage, the wife could not have been unaware of the situation. They also stated, "For the extreme choice of concealing a body to be made, there must be an underlying problematic act that requires greater responsibility." Regarding this, it was speculated that the couple had been illegally operating a hospital by obtaining a medical license from a third party without having their own medical licenses, and fearing this would be exposed, they concealed the body.
Meanwhile, BJ Ayoung entered Cambodia on June 2nd with an acquaintance, Mr. A, and was found dead at a construction site in Phnom Penh on the fourth day, June 6th. Local police arrested the Chinese couple operating the hospital on charges including concealment of a corpse based on fingerprints found on a cloth, and have indicted the couple on charges of "murder accompanied by torture."
