Yangcheon-gu, Rehabilitation Consultation with Ewha Mokdong Hospital Medical Staff Participation

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that starting this month, it will operate one-on-one customized rehabilitation medical consultations for brain lesion and physically disabled residents in the district in collaboration with Ewha Mokdong Hospital.

The 'Rehabilitation Medical Consultation' program utilizes local health centers as regional hubs to meet the rehabilitation needs of brain lesion and physically disabled individuals with limited medical access, and to enhance their self-health management abilities. Since its launch in 2017 in partnership with the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at Ewha Mokdong Hospital, over 240 residents have used the service.

This year, the program will be held a total of four times from this month through December, using the rehabilitation and occupational therapy rooms at Sinwol and Mokdong Health Centers. Rehabilitation medicine staff will conduct close consultations covering all aspects of rehabilitation, including ▲checking basic health status and existing conditions ▲assessing joint range of motion and residual functions ▲evaluating joint contracture and pain levels ▲providing customized exercise prescriptions and guidance based on individual assessments. If additional tests or treatments are needed during the consultation, referrals to Ewha Mokdong Hospital are also possible.

Additionally, the district continuously operates the 'Community-Based Rehabilitation Project' to support health improvement and community reintegration for legally registered and prospective disabled individuals. Once registered as a service recipient at a health center, various services such as health (pain) management, rehabilitation training, and early adaptation programs are available. Since 2000, the number of services provided has reached approximately 4,000 cases.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, stated, “We will continue to actively connect available resources not only from medical institutions but also from the district to help disabled individuals live healthy and happy lives within the community.”
