Great help to the elderly in case of emergency
The AI speaker of the ‘ICT-Linked Artificial Intelligence Integrated Care Project’ in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, is attracting attention for saving the life of an elderly person through prompt response in an emergency situation.
According to the Sancheong Hanil Senior Integrated Support Center of the Hanil Welfare Foundation on the 7th, a recently living alone elderly person in Sancheong-eup showed symptoms of dizziness and paralysis in the early morning hours.
The elderly person called for help to their child by phone and simultaneously shouted "Save me" to the installed AI speaker.
The AI speaker recognized the SOS distress call and immediately sent a signal to the control center.
Subsequently, the control operator and the 119 emergency medical team responded quickly, provided emergency treatment, and transported the elderly person to the hospital.
The elderly person is currently receiving inpatient treatment at the hospital and is now recuperating at home.
The elderly person’s daughter-in-law expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thanks to the quick response coordinated between the AI speaker, the control center, and 119, we were able to overcome the crisis situation.”
Besides this case, another elderly person who slipped in their room and was unable to move due to severe back pain was transported to the hospital through the AI speaker, received treatment, and returned to daily life, demonstrating the effectiveness of installing AI speakers.
Sancheong-gun provides an ‘Artificial Intelligence Care Service’ using AI speakers to elderly and disabled households in the region.
The AI speaker offers services such as companionship, lifestyle convenience services (music, weather, news, etc.), cognitive ability enhancement programs, and emergency situation monitoring linked to 119 and security company dispatch services.
It is also equipped with cognitive enhancement games to stimulate the elderly’s brain activity and a news listening function that provides announcements related to resident welfare in Sancheong-gun, making it useful for various purposes.
The ICT-Linked Artificial Intelligence Integrated Care Project is funded by the Lottery Fund.
The Lottery Fund was established under the Lottery and Lottery Fund Act in 2004 to transparently and efficiently manage and use resources generated from lottery business.
Since 2019, it has been supporting the ICT-Linked Artificial Intelligence Integrated Care Project in Gyeongnam Province.
A representative from the Sancheong Hanil Senior Integrated Support Center said, “We expect the ICT-Linked Artificial Intelligence Integrated Care Project to faithfully serve as a guardian and social safety net for the increasing number of elderly living alone in the aging era.”
