Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education's 2nd Supplementary Budget Passed by Seoul City Council... 673.9 Billion KRW Increase

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 5th that the 2nd supplementary budget proposal submitted to the Seoul Metropolitan Council was approved in the plenary session.


The total scale of this supplementary budget increased by 673.9 billion KRW from the original budget of 12.8798 trillion KRW to 13.5537 trillion KRW.

First, regarding the budget for 'Divet distribution,' the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education requested an increase of 105.9 billion KRW, but only 56.4 billion KRW was confirmed.


The 'Rural Study Abroad Project' was also finally approved at 1.63 billion KRW, reduced by 120 million KRW from the originally submitted proposal.


The major projects with increased budgets are △ Lung cancer screening costs for meal service workers 400 million KRW △ Seoul Future Education District Operation 3.2 billion KRW △ Establishment of Creative Convergence Science Experiment Labs 1.7 billion KRW △ Basic Academic Achievement Guarantee Program for 3rd Year Middle School Transition 700 million KRW △ Electronic Whiteboards 4.3 billion KRW △ Digital-based Education Innovation Support 4.4 billion KRW △ School Sports Club Operation 9.7 billion KRW △ Evening Care Operation 1.9 billion KRW △ Nationwide Joint Academic Assessment 3.9 billion KRW △ Alternative Education Institution Support 7 billion KRW △ Free Meal Costs (March to August) 196 billion KRW, etc.


The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education stated, "This supplementary budget was organized focusing on educational policy projects that must be promoted in the second half of the year. We emphasized operating digital leading schools aligned with the Ministry of Education’s digital-based education innovation plan and establishing an AI-based customized integrated teaching and learning platform to prepare for a smooth transition to future education," adding, "With the confirmation of the supplementary budget, we will accelerate the infrastructure construction for the transition to a digital-based future education system and create a safe and comfortable school environment that Seoul students can be satisfied with."
