'Oh! Mistake' Driving Practice Leads to a Splash into the Sea... Passengers Escape on Their Own

A sports utility vehicle (SUV) driven by a woman in her 60s who was practicing driving plunged into the sea, but there were no casualties.

According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station and Jeju East Fire Station, at around 2:25 p.m. on the 4th, an SUV collided with a docked fishing boat near Sehwa Port in Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, and fell into the sea. It was reported that the fishing boat's equipment was severely damaged in the accident.

A man in his 60s was identified as a passenger in the front passenger seat.

They escaped on their own through an open window before the maritime police arrived. However, showing symptoms of hypothermia, they were transported to a hospital by the 119 emergency medical team at around 3:12 p.m.

The maritime police are investigating the detailed circumstances of the accident, believing that the driver practicing driving pressed the accelerator pedal instead of the brake.
