Busan's Gijang-gun will open Ilgwang Beach and Imrang Beach for two months from July 1 to August 31 to welcome the summer vacation season.
On that day, opening ceremonies will be held at 11 a.m. at Ilgwang Beach (Imhae Administrative Service Office) and at 1:30 p.m. at Imrang Beach (Imhae Administrative Service Office), officially announcing the start of beach operations.
The opening ceremonies will be attended by County Governor Jeong Jong-bok, National Assembly member Jeong Dong-man, Gijang-gun Council Chairman Park Woo-sik, heads of related organizations and groups, and local residents. The events will include congratulatory speeches from guests and the reading of a resolution by representatives of business owners.
During the opening period, one Imhae Administrative Service Office will operate at each of Ilgwang and Imrang Beaches. Additionally, 24 temporary workers for beach environment maintenance will be hired to continuously maintain convenience facilities such as restrooms, foot baths, and shower rooms, making every effort to create a pleasant and welcoming beach.
In particular, as this is the first summer vacation season after the lifting of COVID-19 social distancing measures, and with an expected increase in beach visitors compared to previous years, safety management personnel will be deployed during vulnerable hours (9 p.m. to 6 a.m.) to educate and crack down on nighttime swimming and illegal firework activities.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok said, “We are fully prepared to operate a pleasant and safe beach,” and added, “We hope you enjoy the beautiful sea of Gijang-gun along with its pristine natural environment to the fullest.”
